Finally Win Back Your Time

“Time is the one thing we never seem to have enough of.”

Wouldn’t you agree?

I still remember a season in my life when I was working late nights, answering emails at dinner with my husband and daughter, and juggling way too many “urgent” tasks. At the end of the day, I wasn’t just tired… I felt like I had lost whole weeks (even months) to busywork that didn’t really move me forward.

It’s not the life I wanted for my family… Soon, I told myself that if I didn’t learn to manage my time differently, my time was going to keep managing me and stealing real moments from my loved ones.

How to really win back your time so you could spend it on what really matters:

1. One of the most overlooked ways to reclaim your hours is learning to trust others. If you hire (or delegate to) people you trust, train them well, and then really let go of the details—you’ll notice something magical happen. You’ll suddenly have time to focus on the things only you can do. Micromanagement may feel safe, but it snatches away time you’ll never get back.

2. Another way is to start saying “no” with confidence.

I know, it feels risky, especially when it might mean turning away a client or work projects. But “no” doesn’t always have to shut the door. It can simply mean reframing expectations. Try phrases like:

Given my current projects, I can complete this by [date]. Does that work for you?”

“Between these two projects, which matters most right now?” (you could use this at work with managers to set clear expectations)

“Once I receive the needed info from you, I’ll deliver the first draft by [date].”

These aren’t rejections. They’re in fact, boundaries. And boundaries give you back time for your real priorities.

3. Finally, the best strategies fall apart without systems to support them. Thankfully, today’s tech can give us nudges (or guardrails) we didn’t know we needed. A few favorites worth exploring:

– Eisenhower Decision Matrix → Helps you separate “urgent” from “important.”

– Technique → Simple timer that keeps you focused in bursts.

– Team Management Platforms → Dashboards, reports, project coding—great if you’re juggling multiple people.

– Time Tracking Apps → Templates, alerts, and even reminders when you’ve been scrolling too long.

– Good old-fashioned EggTimer → Yes, the simplest tool (or your phone’s timer) is oftentimes the best way to stay accountable!

Imagine what you could do with just one extra hour every day. More space for brainstorming. More energy for your team. More moments with your loved ones. Maybe even a little time back for yourself.

Time is yours to win back. You just have to start claiming it.
